Appointments

We offer a range of same day or advance appointments with both the doctors and nurses.

Please call the reception desk on 01582 722475 to book an appointment. The receptionists may ask you some questions about why you are coming to see the doctor or nurse to ensure you get an appointment with the right person. You do not have to give this information if you do not wish to.

We think it is important to provide continuity of care and to establish a good relationship with you so we encourage you to see the same doctor if possible. If you prefer to see a particular doctor or nurse please let the receptionist know. Some of the doctors may not be available to see patients every day but we will try and get you to see the doctor of your choice if we can.

If you would feel more comfortable seeing a male or female doctor please let the receptionist know when you book an appointment.

Appointments are booked for 10 minutes. If you think you will need a longer time or you have several problems you would like to discuss with the doctor or nurse then please book two appointment slots to give you and the doctor sufficient time.

If you are late for your appointment, you may be asked to rebook your appointment for another day and time. It is at the doctor's or nurse's discretion whether a late arrival can still be seen and we ask that you respect their decision.

If your first language is not English, and you wish us to arrange an interpreter for your appointment, please advise the receptionist when booking your appointment. This service is available for routine appointments booked in advance only, and is subject to availability. Your appointment duration will be longer than usual, to cover the increased time needed when a translator is present.

You can now book appointments online first time users need to complete a simple registration.

> Cancellations

We would appreciate you notifying reception if you cannot make your appointment, even if it is on the day of your appointment. There is always a high demand for appointments so if you cancel, the appointment can be offered to someone else.

If you need medical attention when the surgery is closed at night or over the weekend please contact NHS on 111.

If you need general health advice or are not sure whether to seek medical help dial 111.

> Out of Hours Service

If you have a life-threatening emergency, please dial 999, request the ambulance service, and be prepared to give the operator full details and location of the emergency. If someone is unconscious, unresponsive, having difficulty breathing or showing symptoms that might indicate a heart problem or stroke, or are acutely ill (such as running a very high fever or in severe pain), and you believe them to be at risk without immediate medical help - call 999.

> Home Visits

Although home visiting is an important part of providing you with good care, the medical centre has much better facilities to conduct an examination and start investigations than at home, so it is always best to be seen at the surgery if at all possible. The home visiting service is for patients who are housebound or are too ill to come to the surgery. Children can almost always be brought to the surgery and we will make a particular effort to make sure that children who are ill are seen quickly. If you are unable to come to the surgery, please telephone 01582 722475 before 11:00 so the doctors can plan the home visits after morning surgery. You may be telephoned by the doctor, so please ensure you leave a contact number when you request a visit. We can only visit you at the address at which you are registered at the practice.

> Test Results

For results of blood test and investigations arranged by your doctor telephone 01582 722475, after 14:30. All test results are seen by a doctor. The receptionist can only tell you whether the test is normal or if another course of action is necessary.

The practice has a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection. We will only release test results to the person to whom they relate unless that person has given prior permission for the release of this data or they are not capable of understanding the results.
